The VOR/DME C Approach
The VOR/DME C approach for will always be to runway 15.
- Arriving aircraft will receive
radar vectors to the DBL (Red Table) VOR, and clearance
to cross the VOR at 14,000 and join the depicted arrival.
Diagram 1 shows position over the DBL VOR at 14,000 MSL.

|
- Join the DBL 164 radial outbound and descend immediately
to cross DBL 3 DME at 13,100 as shown in diagram 2. The
DBL VOR frequency is 113.0.
|
Diagram 2 |
- Continue descending on the 164 radial to cross DBL 6 DME,
ALLIX intersection at 12,200 as shown in diagram 3. After
ALLIX, ATC speed restrictions terminate. Maintain normal
approach speed for aircraft type.
|
Diagram 3 |
- Continue descent to 10,800. Depending on weather conditions,
the field should come into sight between DBL 6 DME and 9.5
DME. In diagram 4, the field has been spotted.
|
Diagram 4 |
- Initiate a left turn to intercept the runway 15 extended
centerline. An expedited descent is required. In diagram
5, a turn to final is being initiated.
|
Diagram 5 |
- In the case of a missed approach, climbing to 14,000,
turn right to heading 300 and join the I-PKN backcourse,
frequency 108.5. Expect radar vectors to DBL. As shown in
diagram 6, our expert vZDV controller/pilots do not miss
the approach very often.

Diagram 6 |
- After touchdown, exit runway to the left as soon as practical.
Caution airplanes on taxiways opposite direction waiting
for runway 33 departures, especially on taxiway A8.
